R&D Activity

After four years of developing and realising its strengths, SoBold started to solidify its niche in 2018 by offering website development as its primary service. Subsequently, they narrowed this down to WordPress design and development.

Since 2018, SoBold has utilised the WordPress Management System to develop impactful website designs and maintain high-performing websites that are both scalable and tailored to each client's needs. SoBold works with medium and enterprise-sized businesses.

SoBold has undertaken a series of innovative projects to create this bespoke service, and it's here where their partnership with EmpowerRD started.

Claim History

With their first R&D claim looming, SoBold sought an R&D tax credit advisor they could trust. Managing Director Will Newland knew little about the R&D tax relief scheme, so wanted to partner with an advisor that could educate and guide SoBold through the process.

After receiving a recommendation from one of our loyal clients, Will contacted the EmpowerRD team to begin discussions about SoBold's first claims. After conversing with one of our experts about his claim and viewing a detailed demonstration of the platform, Will decided to move forward with EmpowerRD.

'It was immediately evident that EmpowerRD had the necessary expertise and experience we were after. After sharing our recent projects, we met with their specialist to determine which would be eligible and establish a plan of action. It was great to have that support and guidance from the off,' says Will.

Working with EmpowerRD

SoBold is now on its seventh claim with EmpowerRD, and the partnership couldn’t be stronger. 

Will explains, ‘establishing trust with our partners and clients is essential to ensure that work progresses smoothly. We want them to feel secure in knowing they can rely on us, so they don’t need to be anxious or concerned about the progress of their project. This is precisely the feeling we get with EmpowerRD.’

After seven claims with EmpowerRD, SoBold is still happy with the process, ‘just like the first claim, the technical director, Sam, and I sit down with the client success manager who educates us on which of our projects qualify. 

Will adds, ‘because we trust you guys, it’s straightforward. We’ve got that initial guide from you, and we can start with the claim. And when we need help or are not quite sure about something, I can contact a client success manager immediately.”

The platform is also a benefit for Will, ‘the platform is intuitive enough for us to know exactly what we need to do. We also have access to our claim history, making it easy to pick up from where we left off. The claim benchmarking tool is also a nice touch.’

SoBold see no reason to switch providers, ‘it’s understandable; our accountants tell us they can help with our R&D claim, but for us, why would we change things when we know what we’re getting with EmpowerRD? It’s very transparent; it’s very straightforward. So from my perspective, there would be no reason to change because it works so well.’
